| Charles Iles ENGLAND Charles Iles registered his maker's mark in 1889 and it is probable that it was only used from then until 1903. The mark is made up of 3 touching thimbles in a circle. This means that the bulk of his thimbles are unmarked, though thimbles do exist with ILES stamped onto the band. I have noticed that Iles thimbles tend to have striations behind the patterning: a good test but not foolproof See also: Tailor's thimbles Norma Spicer's Iles - A Family of Thimble Makers is a must for collectors of Charles Iles thimbles | ||||||
